This is the agreement between you and Hylen Technologies LLC for using Hylen Invoice, which is free. It is written to be read rather than to be impressive, and it says what we do, what we do not do, and what happens when something goes wrong. The refund policy, which now covers payments made before Hylen became free and any plan charged after, and the privacy page are part of it.
1. What this service is
- 1.1Hylen Invoice is a tool for making a document. You type in what the document should say: who is issuing it, who it is for, what the lines are, which currency and which tax treatment. We lay it out and hand you a PDF. That is the whole of it.
- 1.2What that means in practice is worth being plain about, because it is the most common misunderstanding about a tool like this. You are the issuer of every document you make here. We are not your accountant, your bookkeeper, or your tax adviser, and we do not check what you type. If a rate is wrong, a tax treatment does not apply in your country, a number is duplicated, or a document is missing something your local rules require, that is between you and whoever asks you about it. We have no way to know, and we do not look.
- 1.3Documents generated here are commercial documents, not fiscal receipts. In many countries a fiscal receipt has to come from a registered device or a government-approved system, be reported to a tax authority, or carry a serial number issued by one. Nothing here does any of that. If your country requires a fiscal receipt for a transaction, a document from this site is not one, whatever it is labelled.
2. Using it
- 2.1You may use Hylen Invoice for your own business or for work you do for someone else. The editor is open: you can make a document, see it, and change it without signing in. To download the finished PDF you need an account. You sign in with Google or with a link we email you, and the first time you do, we ask for your country and the type of business you run. The documents you download while signed in are then listed on your account page, where you can download them again.
- 2.2You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live, and if you are using this for a company you must be allowed to agree to this on its behalf.
- 2.3Do not use it to deceive anyone. Do not make a document that claims to be issued by a business that is not yours, or by a person who has not asked you to. Do not use it to produce a receipt for a payment that did not happen, an invoice for goods or services that do not exist, or anything meant to be passed off as a fiscal or official record. This is the one rule we will end an account over without warning.
- 2.4Do not attack the service. Do not try to get at other people’s documents, defeat the rate limits, automate the editor to generate load, probe for holes, or interfere with anyone else’s use of it. If you think you have found a security problem, write to us instead. We would rather hear from you.
- 2.5Do not resell it as your own. You are welcome to charge your own clients for work you do using this. You may not present Hylen Invoice itself as your product, or wrap it in something you sell as though the document engine were yours.
- 2.6Using it through an AI assistant. You can connect an app, such as an AI assistant, to your account and ask it to create and edit drafts for you. It acts on your instructions, and you remain responsible for what you ask it to create, exactly as if you had typed it yourself: check a draft before you download it. A connected app can never download the PDF, sign you in or pay for anything. It can give you a link that opens a draft in the editor, where you sign in and download it yourself, the same way as any other document. You can revoke a connected app at any time from your account.
3. What you type stays yours
- 3.1The content of your documents is yours. We claim nothing in it and we do not use it for anything except making your document, storing it so you can get it back, and the support you ask us for. We do not read documents to build a profile, train anything on them, or sell any part of them to anyone.
- 3.2You are responsible for having the right to use what you put in, whether that is a logo, a signature image, a stamp, or a client’s details. By putting it in, you are telling us you are allowed to, and giving us only the narrow permission needed to store it and render it into your PDF.
- 3.3The layouts, the typography, the code and the name are ours. Your document is yours; the machine that made it is not.
4. Hylen is free
- 4.1Since 14 October 2026, the day this version took effect, Hylen Invoice is free. Making, editing and downloading documents costs nothing, there is no plan to buy and no charge per document. The one condition is the one in clause 2.1: you download while signed in.
- 4.2If that ever changes, this page will change first, and a change does not reach back: nothing you made or downloaded while Hylen was free will be charged for.
- 4.3A plan bought before then. Billing on every monthly and yearly plan stopped on 14 October 2026, and you will not be charged for a plan again. Each plan runs to the end of its current period and then simply ends; it is not renewed. The time you had already paid for is not refunded, because you keep the plan until it ends; the refund policy sets out the exceptions. After the plan ends, downloading stays free with your account.
- 4.4A document bought before then. Its retrieval code keeps working for one year from the purchase, as it did when you bought it, unless the payment was refunded or taken back through your bank. No retrieval code is issued for a document downloaded after Hylen became free; if you lost the code and you downloaded the document before 14 October 2026, or opened it with its code, while signed in to your account, you can have a new code emailed from your account page, which replaces the old one; otherwise write to us and we will send one. For 12 hours after the payment you could edit that same document and download it again; after those 12 hours it is fixed as it stands and its type cannot change. You can still download it, and a changed version is simply a new document, which is free.
- 4.5Payments made before then. Payments made before Hylen became free on 14 October 2026, including any made earlier that day, were taken in US dollars by Stripe, and card details never reached our server. The refund policy covers those payments, and what was agreed when each was made still holds. It is part of this agreement.
5. What we do not promise
- 5.1We do not promise the service will be available at a particular moment, or at all. There is no uptime commitment, no service credit, and no support response time. It runs on one server; it can be down for maintenance, for a fault, or because something upstream of us has failed. We will generally try to fix things quickly because we would like you to keep using it, but that is an intention rather than a term.
- 5.2We also do not promise that a document will suit any particular purpose, satisfy any particular country’s rules, or be accepted by anyone. It is a document laid out from what you typed.
- 5.3Keep your own copy of anything that matters. We keep a saved document for a year, as the privacy policy sets out, and that is a real commitment, not a backup service. Download your PDF and store it where you store your own records.
6. The limit on what we owe you
- 6.1This is the section that exists because the sums involved are small and the things a business document touches are not. If something goes wrong here, what we owe you is capped at the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before it happened, which for a free service is usually nothing, or twenty US dollars.
- 6.2We are not liable for lost profit, lost business, lost or corrupted data beyond what we hold, a tax penalty, a fine, an audit, a dispute with your client, or any other loss that follows on from using or not being able to use the service. We are not liable for a document being wrong because what was typed into it was wrong.
- 6.3Nothing here limits anything that cannot lawfully be limited. Several countries, including across the European Union and the United Kingdom, give consumers rights that a term like this cannot take away, and in a conflict between this section and one of those rights, the right wins. If you are a consumer, read this section as applying only as far as the law where you live allows.
7. Ending it
- 7.1You can stop using the service whenever you like. A plan bought before Hylen became free ends on its own, as clause 4.3 says, and there is nothing to cancel. You can ask us to delete your account and what we hold, and the privacy page explains what happens to the records we are obliged to keep.
- 7.2We can suspend or end your access if you break the rules above, if we are required to, or if we stop running the service. If we stop running it, we will give what notice we reasonably can. If we end your access for breaking the deception rule, we do not refund anything you spent before Hylen became free.
8. Changes to these terms
- 8.1We will change this page as the service changes. The date at the top says when it last changed. A change applies to what you do after it; it does not reach back and alter a purchase you have already made. If a change matters and you have an account, we will tell you by email rather than expecting you to notice.
9. Which law, and where a dispute goes
- 9.1This agreement is governed by the law of the State of Wyoming, USA, and a dispute about it goes to the courts of that state.
- 9.2If you are a consumer, that does not deprive you of anything: you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in, and you can bring a claim in your own local courts if the rules there let you. We would much rather you wrote to us first. Most things that look like a dispute are a misunderstanding about what a document is for, and an email fixes it.
